Yes, you typically can use a Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printer for Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing. You would need DTF sheets (a DTG printer is platen based, so printing to rolls with a DTG printer is typically not possible) and you may need to perform some trial and error to find the best matching DTF film and adhesive powders to match your DTG printer inks. You may also need to perform some trial and error to find the best settings to melt your powder, and heat press your transfers. This is because DTG inks are slightly different to DTF inks, and therefore require different temp / pressure / time settings with DTF powders and films. For example, for Ricoh DTG printers, those have been match-tested to work with specific DTFPRO consumables for use with Ricoh DTG inks.
