Yes, MagicSeal can still be used on a DTF shirt that has already been washed or worn, but it will not be as effective as applying it during the original finishing process.
MagicSeal is designed to be applied before the final second heat press. For best results, the normal process is to press and peel the DTF transfer, apply MagicSeal, cover the design with a protective sheet, and then complete the second press. This allows MagicSeal to work into the print while the transfer is still fresh and before the garment has gone through washing, wearing, detergents, fabric softeners, body oils, or other exposure.
If the shirt has already been washed, MagicSeal can still help improve the feel and finish of the print. The result may be softer and more comfortable than leaving the shirt untreated. However, because the print has already been fully cured, worn, and washed, the effect may not be as strong as it would have been if MagicSeal had been applied before the original second press.
For best results on a washed DTF shirt:
- Make sure the shirt is clean and completely dry.
- Do not use fabric softener before applying MagicSeal.
- Lightly spray MagicSeal over the printed area. Do not oversaturate.
- Cover the design with a clean protective sheet, such as Teflon or parchment paper.
- Complete a final heat press according to the MagicSeal instructions.
In simple terms:
MagicSeal works best when applied before the original second heat press. If the shirt has already been washed or worn, MagicSeal can still improve the print compared to not using MagicSeal at all.
