The correct Roland DTF ink cartridge depends on your printer model, your current ink generation, and the cartridge size your printer accepts. Roland DTF inks may be listed as S-PG or S-PG2, and these two ink systems are not interchangeable unless the printer is properly configured for that ink generation.
The Roland VersaSTUDIO BN-20D uses Roland S-PG 220ml DTF ink cartridges. The Roland BY-20 may use either Roland S-PG 220ml inks or Roland S-PG2 220ml inks, depending on whether the printer is configured for the original S-PG ink system or the newer S-PG2 ink system. A BY-20 that is currently running S-PG inks must be converted before S-PG2 cartridges can be installed.
The Roland BY2-20 DTF Printer uses Roland S-PG2 inks only. The BY2-20 does not use the original S-PG ink system. If you own a BY2-20, you should order S-PG2 cartridges in the compatible size for your printer configuration.
The Roland TY-300 and Roland TY-300i are production-focused Roland DTF printer platforms and use Roland S-PG2 500ml DTF ink cartridges. The 500ml cartridge format is designed for higher-volume DTF production, helping reduce cartridge changes, support longer print runs, and improve workflow efficiency in busy apparel printing environments.
As a general guide: use S-PG 220ml for BN-20D and BY-20 printers running the original S-PG system; use S-PG2 220ml for BY2-20 and BY-20 printers configured for S-PG2; and use S-PG2 500ml for compatible BY2-20, TY-300, and TY-300i production configurations. When in doubt, check your current cartridge label and printer ink configuration before ordering.
